Easter 2016

I was on full blown holiday burn out by the time Easter came around this year.  It seems the expectations for each holiday grows each year.  I am both disgusted by it and terrified that I've dropped the ball for my kids.  My sister called me the week before Easter to ask about our traditional Easter Egg hunt and I passionately stated that my kids didn't need one at all!  My sister is so busy I hated having her spent so much time and effort so we essentially called off Easter.  It only took me a few days to feel sorry about my decision and Easter celebrations were back on.

Saturday before Easter we met my Dad and Pam for dinner and really was heaven to sit in a restaurant and let someone else cook the food and clean it up.  It truly was my Easter Miracle.  When we came home the kids watched Phineas and Ferb while the adults went outside and hid the eggs. Once it was dark the kids put on their headlamps and set off to find their eggs!  The kids looked more suited to go mining for gold than hunting for eggs but they were excited!

I ditched the candy this year and opted to fill the eggs with quarters, 50 cent pieces, and dollar coins. There was two special eggs to find.  First, a batman egg that had more money than the rest.  Luke abandoned the search for all other eggs in devotion to finding the batman egg and he did find it! He also inadvertently found the other special egg.  This plain white egg was empty and had a scripture reference inside about the empty tomb.  The kids were surprisingly happy about it.

That old Easter Bunny came Sunday morning and hid their baskets as per usual!
